Preventive examinations

Preventive check-ups are an essential element of primary health care, helping to identify risks and prevent the development of disease. GPs play a key role in organising and carrying out these check-ups.

Preventive check-ups focus on the detection of risk factors and lifestyle modifications to reduce the risk of developing disease, health monitoring that can detect early stages of disease and education about an active lifestyle.

Preventive check-ups usually take place as follows:

Adults (19-64 years) every 2 years:

  • Complete clinical examination: measurement of blood pressure, weight, height and assessment of metabolic and cardiovascular risks.
  • Laboratory tests: blood analysis for lipid spectrum, blood sugar and other relevant tests as required by the patient
  • screening for breast, colon and cervical cancer, etc.

Seniors (65 years and over) every 1 year:

  • Clinical examination
  • diagnosis of chronic diseases and prevention of falls and fractures
  • laboratory tests
  • monitoring of physical fitness is recommended

At JM Clinic, we offer comprehensive preventive care that includes a thorough physical exam, lab tests and patient education about healthy lifestyles. Occupational examinations focus on specific factors affecting health depending on the work environment. Occupational examinations are essential to ensure the health of employees and prevent work-related accidents and illnesses.

Occupational examinations are important to identify risk factors and to monitor symptoms associated with the work environment. On the basis of a detailed examination, the medical practitioner issues an assessment of the workers' fitness to practise the profession.

  • The medical history, including the job description
  • Clinical examination
  • Laboratory tests and ECG in specified cases

03

Preoperative examination

The general practitioner performs a pre-operative examination, especially in low-risk patients, classified according to the ASA (American Society of Anesthesiologists) system, i.e. ASA I and II. In these patients, the physician assesses the general state of health, organ function, operative and anaesthetic risks. Patients classified as ASA III and above, who have an increased risk of surgery, are referred to a specialist for more detailed evaluation and preparation for surgery.

Preoperative evaluation is a key step in the process of preparing the patient for surgery. The goal of these examinations is to ensure that the patient is in optimal health for surgery and to minimize the risks associated with anesthesia and surgery.

As part of the preoperative examination, the practitioner performs the following steps:

  • Detailed medical history
  • Clinical examination
  • laboratory tests
  • resting ECG, possibly chest X-ray
  • risk assessment and recommendations for preoperative preparation

At JM Clinic, we also focus on specific pre-operative preparation such as weight reduction, improving fitness or rehabilitation before surgery, which significantly speeds up recovery from surgery. Comprehensive rehabilitation after surgery is standard in our clinic, which is provided by our physiotherapists equipped with experience and modern technologies for fast recovery.

Cancer screening is a key element of preventive health care aimed at early detection of cancer, which can greatly increase the chances of successful treatment and survival.

Prostate cancer screening

Men age 50 and older: PSA (prostate specific antigen) level testing and rectal examination are recommended.

Men aged 45 years: If they have a family history of prostate cancer, they may start screening earlier.

Under 50: Screening is recommended for individuals at high risk (family history, personal history of adenomas).

Breast cancer screening

Women aged 45 years and older: Mammography every 2 years is recommended.

Women at high risk: For example, women with a family history of breast cancer should be screened earlier, as recommended by a specialist.

A sample of blood, urine or other body fluids may be indicated as part of the GP visit. Laboratory diagnostics include both standard tests, carried out in accredited laboratories, and rapid diagnostic methods (POCT - Point of Care Testing), which allow results to be obtained almost immediately in the surgery. We use these tests to monitor important parameters such as "short and long sugar", CRP, Strep Test, UTI test, D-dimers, Troponin, p-BNP, FOB, INR and hemoglobin.

Our clinic provides an extremely wide range of laboratory diagnostics and follow-up comprehensive health care.

24 hour blood pressure monitoring

24-hour blood pressure monitoring allows detailed monitoring of blood pressure readings throughout the day and night, helping to detect problems that routine in-office measurements may not pick up. Based on the monitoring data, the doctor can suggest targeted treatment strategies and lifestyle adjustments.

Twenty-four-hour blood pressure monitoring, also known as ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), is an important diagnostic tool in a general practitioner's practice. It captures natural fluctuations in blood pressure, checking blood pressure during sleep and various activities.

This examination is particularly useful for:

  • Diagnosis of arterial hypertension
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of treatment
  • Detecting nocturnal hypertension
  • Detecting blood pressure fluctuations

During 24-hour blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), the patient wears a portable device that measures blood pressure periodically throughout the day and night. The device is attached to an arm cuff that automatically inflates and records readings without significantly limiting normal daily activities.

Our clinic offers 24-hour blood pressure monitoring as part of comprehensive health care. Once monitoring is complete, your doctor will provide you with a detailed analysis of the results along with recommendations for further treatment, including adjustments to your physical activity and diet, which will promote your health and reduce your risk of cardiovascular problems.

Ultrasound examination of soft tissues (muscles, tendons, joints)

Ultrasound examination of soft tissues, including muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints, is a modern and non-invasive diagnostic method that provides valuable information about the condition of these structures. Ultrasound allows real-time monitoring of the development of an injury or disease.

This diagnostic method makes it possible to image soft tissues and identify various pathological changes such as:

  • Inflammation
  • Muscle and ligament strains and tears
