Preventive examinations
Preventive check-ups are an essential element of primary health care, helping to identify risks and prevent the development of disease. GPs play a key role in organising and carrying out these check-ups.
Preventive check-ups focus on the detection of risk factors and lifestyle modifications to reduce the risk of developing disease, health monitoring that can detect early stages of disease and education about an active lifestyle.
Preventive check-ups usually take place as follows:
Adults (19-64 years) every 2 years:
- Complete clinical examination: measurement of blood pressure, weight, height and assessment of metabolic and cardiovascular risks.
- Laboratory tests: blood analysis for lipid spectrum, blood sugar and other relevant tests as required by the patient
- screening for breast, colon and cervical cancer, etc.
Seniors (65 years and over) every 1 year:
- Clinical examination
- diagnosis of chronic diseases and prevention of falls and fractures
- laboratory tests
- monitoring of physical fitness is recommended
